This beginning to intermediate class introduces digital 3D using Maya, Autodesk's industry standard for modeling, sculpting, texturing, rendering and animation. Students should have a basic understanding of Maya, such as completion of Maya 101 or equivalent experience.

By the end of this course, students should feel comfortable with the Maya interface and work flow for 3D modeling, for design, illustration or simple animation. Each week will teach a different part of the Maya modeling "pipeline" (i.e. Maya work flow) with simple polygon-based projects designed to develop intuitive 3D modeling skills"

This class will cover low and high poly hard surface and organic modeling techniques. Students will learn UV mapping, texture baking, painting, and using photos for texturing. Time permitting, basic rigging for posing will also be introduced. We will cover basic lighting & simple camera animation, then rendering techniques, including creating turntables and fly-throughs to create finished art work ready for your portfolio.

Prerequisite: Maya 101 & Photoshop 1 or equivalent experience.
